Greg gave Marilouise and I a hands-on lesson in changing bike tubes, as both of mine were flat. We then spent some time making some adjustments on our bikes before taking off on a bike ride. You can see that part of our ride was on this trail that took us through the woods where the trees were covered with Spanish moss.
We arrived in Gainsville, Florida Sunday afternoon and stayed with our friends Karl and Marilouise Galik. Karl and Marilouise were our neighbors in Minnetonka for 9 years - it is always wonderful seeing them. They treated us to a "5-star" Valentine's Dinner and we enjoyed a night of great conversation and fellowship!
We left Mom & Dad's house on Sunday, Feb. 14 to drive to Gainsville, Fl. The weather was very cool (in the 30's) but the sunshine was wonderful! We've heard the weather will be unseasonably cool at least the first week. I've decided to have absolutely NO EXPECTATIONS about the weather so I don't feel any disappointment. I'm just happy to be here!
Greg left in the motor home and started traveling down south. He arrived at my Mom & Dad's house in Columbus, Georgia on Friday, Feb. 12 after driving the last 4 hours in snow. When he arrived in Columbus, there was 3-4 inches of snow on the ground . . . . one of about two snowstorms in the last 24 years Mom & Dad have lived in Columbus.
Greg has done a great job of planning all the things we'll need to enjoy the great outdoors - bikes, wind surfer, etc. We will be traveling throughout Florida staying at different state parks and plan to get lots of exercise!
This Florida adventure has been a dream of Greg's for about 5 years . . . . he has been planning to take an extended road trip in our motor home the winter that Andrew went off to college.
